Why Do Fans Believe GTA 6 Is Nearing Release?

According to recent reports, Rockstar, the developer of the Grand Theft Auto (GTA) series, is said to be putting the finishing touches on its next installment, GTA 6.

After waiting for years, fans of the popular franchise believe that the game's release is imminent.

Screenshots from various sources have surfaced, indicating that the game is in a more complete state than the in-development footage leaked last year.

More than 90 videos and screenshots from an early build of the game were leaked last year, and a hacker based in London was arrested in connection with the incident.

Although the footage left fans with the impression that GTA 6 was still in its early stages of development, a new report from the Twitter account GTA 6 News & Leaks 2.0 suggests otherwise.

The Twitter account linked to a forum post by a Rockstar Games insider, Tez2, who discovered multiple files for "bankrelease," "beta," and "debug" builds of the game.

These files suggest that more feature-complete builds of GTA 6 exist, with full user-interface functionality and a roughly finished state of the game.

Rockstar is likely working on polishing the game further and ironing out any bugs before its release.

However, optimization is expected to take a considerable amount of time for a game that is rumored to contain a vast amount of detail.

Previous titles from Rockstar, such as GTA V on Xbox 360 and PS3, GTA V on PS4 and Xbox One, and GTA V on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, were known for their attention to detail.

Rockstar has remained silent on the matter since the leaks went live, with the head of parent company Take-Two, Strauss Zelnick, calling the situation "terribly" unfortunate.

Meanwhile, fans of the series are trying to piece together an early estimation of GTA 6's open world using the leaked footage. The open world looks set to be as big or even bigger than GTA V's Los Santos area.
